A selection of powerful films from the Imperial War Museums (IWM) Short Film Festival is to be screened in City Park for the first time.
All films being shown in Bradford will focus on the First World War, marking the centenary of a conflict that changed the world we live in.
From a powerful re-construction of the lives of child soldiers’ to the horrors of the trenches re-imagined through modern day social media – Bradford City Park will offer a unique opportunity to see seven new films inspired by the collections of the IWM.
The films will be screened over three consecutive weekends from 1330 in City Park, starting on Saturday (October 25). The final day of screenings will coincide with Remembrance Sunday on November 9th.
For twelve years IWM has held an annual film competition of challenging and engaging films inspired by IWM collections. This year the festival has focused entries in the category of short film and from more than 100 entries, 35 films have been chosen to form the festival programme.
Bradford UNESCO City of Film Director, David Wilson said: “Having seen the quality of the films, we feel very privileged to be able to be part of this event. I would urge anyone who can, to come and watch them over the next three weekends.

IWM Short Film Festival provides a unique opportunity for film makers to work with archive material directly or respond creatively to its contents and themes.

Bradford Big Screen is giant outdoor screen in the heart of one of England’s most vibrant and exciting cities with an international reputation for film and media.
