David has chosen 6 clips which are me memorable to him or mean something to him  and have taken place in the Yorkshire region. One of the clips He has chosen is ‘Easter at Shipley Glen in 1912’ David said: ‘A trip to Shipley Glen when we were kids was a real treat and probably the equivalent of going to Lightwater Valley these days. I am talking 1970s remember. Even though we only lived at Wyke in them days, Shipley Glen seemed quite a distance. We used to love scrambling on the rocks and if we were really lucky (and well behaved) we’d get to go on some of the fair rides, the remnants of which are still there today. The Shipley Glen tramway was always a special treat and still attracts thousands of visitors each year. This particular clip shows Shipley Glen and Saltaire back in 1912 and thousands of people attending the fair up on the glen at Easter time’.

Another clip he has chosen is the ‘Accession to Jubilee 1977’ David said: ‘There is something very memorable about 1977 as the country celebrated the Silver Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II. As a nine year old at the time I have to admit I wasn’t really sure what it all meant but there were loads of parties and celebrations and everywhere we went we could stuff our faces with iced buns and cakes, all home made of course. Watching this clip brings home a real sense of community pride. The sheer scale of the Lord Mayor’s Parade in them days and the enthusiasm of the people taking part. It was also at this time that I started to learn to play the drums and got really interested in music’.
