Free Film Talk ‘Bollywood in Britain’

Continuing with the series of free film talks arranged by the team at Bradford UNESCO City of Film, held at Bradford’s City Park library. The 4th Film Talk of the year, will take place on 24th April 2014 between 5.30pm and 6.30pm.

We are delighted to announce that our guest speaker this month is Irna Qureshi who will discuss ‘Bollywood in Britain’. The talk will highlight Britain’s long-standing romance with Bollywood. It will explore the contribution that Britain has made to the world’s largest film industry, taking both a historic and contemporary look at the rise in popularity of Bollywood in Britain. Irna Qureshi is an ethnographer, writer and curator specialising in British Asian arts and culture. She is author of Coming of Age: 21 Years of Mela in the UK (2010) and The Grand Trunk Road: From Delhi to the Khyber Pass (2011). Irna curated Bollywood Icons: 100 Years of Indian Cinema for the National Media Museum and is co-director of the Bradford Literature Festival.

New City Library – Bradford

 

The exciting new public library in Bradford city centre is now open. Known simply as City Library, the new facility is housed in the bright, modern space previously occupied by the Bradford 1 Gallery and stretches across to include the large unit next to Starbucks.

City Library can hold up to 60,000 books, 2,000 DVDs, 40 computers, a range of newspapers and journals and free Wi-Fi.

City Library has a whole section of books dedicated to film under the City of Film section
